Gold & Stone Inlaid Earrings Toledo, Spain is famous for the ancient art of making Damascene jewelry -- black steel inlaid with threads of gold, silver, and bronze. It became popular in Europe around 15th century. The intricate artwork and fine detailing is quite impressive. The artisans cover the surface of the object with fine, narrow grooves using sharp steel cutting tools. Then, the decorative pattern is drawn by pressing wire into the grooves. The gold is hammered in with a small hammer.

Finally the piece is polished by blueing. Our star shaped earrings are inlaid 24 carat gold and semi-precious stones with a minimum thickness of 3 micron.
