Hand Made Maracas
Maracas originally
came from South America. They are made of hollow gourds
containing loose seeds. They can also be made of wood and filled
with beads. They are played by shaking or hitting on the palm of
your hand. How to play: Hold one maraca in each hand. Grasp the
handle of each with your thumb and three smallest fingers.
Extend your index finger so that it touches the shell.
|
|
|
| Using your wrist, flick one
of the maracas. This causes the beads inside the maraca to hit against
the inside wall of the shell, creating a "tsk" sound. Our pair of
maracas is hand made out of wood and is painted in Mexico. They maybe
used as a musical instrument or an authentic decorative item. Each one
measures 13” long by 4 ½” wide. |
